If your marriage in on the rocks and you are planning to get a divorce then seeking legal advice on divorce can prove to be a good idea.

The process of divorce starts with filling the divorce papers. However, before initiating the process you need to decide on the type of divorce you wish to opt for. Most couples go for a no fault divorce because it is quick and hassle free. A fault based divorce on the other hand can be contested. If you are still in talking terms with your spouse then you can decide on the divorce grounds and file a divorce on mutual consent. In this type of divorce you will need to make a common settlement agreement in accordance to your spouse. If you have children in the marriage then you also need to draft child custody and support plan. These documents will be required by the court while giving decision on financial and parenting issue. You can get this divorce done either by yourself or by using the service of any divorce attorney.

If you are not in talking terms with your spouse and are seeking divorce on fault ground then you need to hire the services of a qualified divorce attorney, who can represent your case in the court and get you the desired outcome.

If you are not sure about ending your marriage, then you can opt for legal separation. The only difference between legal separation and divorce is that the legal nuptial bond stays intact in a separation. The biggest benefit of legal separation is that you can always choose to reconcile with your spouse.
